Brenda: Physically I'm in the South of France and the view of the Pyrenees is stunning. Mentally and emotionally I'm in the middle of a life that looks messy in the past and uncertain in the future.

Brenda: A typical Gemini: never sure which one of me has got up in the morning.

Binnacle: Which of your childhood books influenced you the most?

Brenda: Grimm's Fairy Tales.

Binnacle: Who is your literary hero/heroine?

Brenda: Maggie Tulliver.

Binnacle: Who/what is your greatest passion?

Brenda: The exquisite beauty of the planet inspires me and mankind's determination to destroy it devastates me.

Binnacle: Who/what is your bete noir?

Brenda: George Bush.

Brenda: Cut, cut and cut.

Brenda: Don't.
